Successful societies are not only characterized by economic prosperity and political stability, but also by a vibrant social sector, one which works to ensure that the maximum number of citizens share in society’s benefits. One of the most important forces in building a robust social sector is the presence of social entrepreneurs, individuals and teams who create and build new organizations offering innovative solutions to unmet social needs.
While social entrepreneurs play a pivotal role in community and social development, the factors which enable or inhibit them in achieving their missions are not well understood. To fill this gap, Monitor Group, in collaboration with New Profit Inc. and Dowser in the United States, and Social Finance Ltd., UnLtd, the Social Enterprise Coalition, and Eastside Consulting in the U.K., is undertaking to produce a report on the context for social entrepreneurship, with the goal of influencing policy and promoting social entrepreneurship around the world.
The specific objectives of the survey are:
- To assess and benchmark the current situation of social entrepreneurs in your geography;
- To identify key strengths, weaknesses, challenges and opportunities for social entrepreneurs in particular locations in comparison to other geographies;
- To develop meaningful findings for policy formulation relevant to
social entrepreneurs;
- To encourage stakeholders in the success of social entrepreneurship to discuss the implications of the report’s findings.
To accomplish these objectives, it is vital that we gain inputs and perspectives from social entrepreneurs, as well as other relevant constituencies, on the issues, opportunities, and challenges social entrepreneurs face. Accordingly, we would ask that you spend a few minutes completing the short survey. We would also ask that, as appropriate, you help us identify and pass along this survey to other social entrepreneurs. All respondent names will be kept confidential. Your responses to this survey, both as they apply to you and to your organization, will be completely confidential unless otherwise approved by you.
