Consulting is a demanding profession. Clients rely on Monitor to provide world-class strategic advice on their toughest problems. Providing that advice is of critical importance to our business—and it can take a lot of dedication and time. But we also strive to ensure that our consultants maintain a healthy work-life balance.
We know that our employees have lives outside of work and personal aspirations. We understand that there are times when your personal life will demand more of you, and we have the flexibility to help you find the right balance. That can take many forms, from staffing you to local or internal projects to part-time working arrangements to leaves of absence. Ultimately, our goal is to make a career at Monitor a sustainable one.
Our client service model is tailored to the needs of our client, which means we don’t default to a ‘4 day on the client site’ model. Rather, we visit the client when they need us and when the work requires it. As such, we find our consultants spend a significant portion of their work week in their home office. Although it sounds counterintuitive, the global nature of our client base and staffing model also support work-life balance. Because many of our teams are staffed from across a multitude of Monitor offices, our consultants learn early on how to work remotely with their teams. Supported by information technology, we have adapted the manner in which we run our project teams to be adaptive to client and consultant communication needs. Web conferencing and collaboration tools allow us to meet with clients around the world without leaving the office. Voice-over-IP phones on every laptop mean that our consultants can be called at their office number and pick the call up from anywhere where they have internet access: at the client site, a hotel or even from home.
All this means that your work here can often fit around your life, versus the other way around. More importantly, we are committed to working with you to develop a working model that best meets you unique circumstances.
