Maarten Kelder — Partner and President, Monitor Group (Asia)
Maarten Kelder is Partner and President of Monitor Group Asia. He joined Monitor in 1990, and since has participated in hundreds of projects in Europe, North America, and Asia. He has experience across a wide range of industries, including telecommunications, media, technology, consumer goods, life sciences, energy, and financial services. His key areas of expertise include portfolio and business unit strategies, marketing and growth strategies, shareholder value, organizational effectiveness, capability building, M&A / Alliance strategies, and economic development strategies for regions and countries. In addition to his role of overseeing Monitor's activities in Asia, Mr. Kelder still spends at least half of his time working on client engagements.
He has worked in Asia since 1995, across virtually all Asian countries with particular emphasis on China, Korea, and South East Asia.
Prior to Joining Monitor, Maarten was a petroleum engineer at Royal Dutch / Shell in Africa and Europe, and with Morgan Stanley in New York and London in investment banking.
Maarten earned his Bachelor and Master of Science Degrees from the University of Technology in Delft, the Netherlands. He also obtained an MBA at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College, where he was awarded the Rotary International Scholarship Award.
He currently lives with his family in Singapore, having lived in China, Korea, Los Angeles, London, New York and Amsterdam before.

Edgar Hotard — Chairman, Monitor Group (China)
Edgar Hotard serves as Chairman of Monitor China. He is also a venture partner with a venture capital firm and a private equity firm operating in China. As the retired President/COO of Praxair Inc., a multibillion-dollar industrial gases company, he has extensive experience in a number of industries including health care, life science, steel and other metals, fabrication, pulp and paper, oil and gas (upstream/downstream), information technology, logistics, advanced materials/nanotechnology, chemicals and automotive. Additionally, he has experience in Chinese enterprise restructure, establishing Chinese holding companies, and funding mechanisms for Chinese technology start-ups.
Ed is a former member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the U.S. China Business Council. He is a founding sponsor of the China Economic and Technology Alliance as well as a joint MBA program in China between Renmin University in Beijing and the State University of Buffalo, NY. In December 2000, Ed was presented the Great Wall Friendship Award from the Mayor of Beijing on behalf of the Municipality .
Ed obtained a Bachelor of Science in engineering from Northwestern University. He has lectured at Yale University, Rice University, the State University of Buffalo, NY, Renmin University, and Jiatong University in Shanghai.

Dr. Thierry Delmarcelle — Partner and President, Monitor Group (China)
Thierry Delmarcelle is Partner and President of Monitor China. He currently leads Monitor's Chinese client practice. He has fifteen years of management consulting experience, including eleven years in Greater China. Based in Beijing, Thierry works with Government organizations, Chinese state-owned or private enterprises, and multi-national companies entering or operating in China.
Thierry serves clients on a variety of topics including regional economic development of cities and regions, sustainable industrial and social development, eco-cities, corporate and competitive strategy, marketing, innovation, globalization (winning overseas), organization design, and operations improvement. Thierry works across various industries which include real estate, telecoms, high technology, consumer goods, media, and retail.
Thierry grew up in Brussels, Belgium, where he became an engineer in nuclear physics. He holds a PhD in Applied Physics from Stanford University.

George Baeder — Partner
George Baeder is a Partner of Monitor Group Asia. George has focused on the region's emerging markets. He has worked across a broad spectrum of industries—including fast moving consumer products, pharmaceuticals, specialty chemicals, oil and gas, natural resources, telecommunications, data processing, consumer electronics and financial services. George also leads Monitor's life sciences practice in the As.ia/Pacific region, covering ethical pharmaceuticals, OTC, medical devices and healthcare delivery.
After studying economics and Chinese history in the U.S. and Taiwan, George joined Business International Corp, a New York based business advisory firm in 1973. In 1976 he moved to Hong Kong to build the company's Asian operations. After selling Business International in 1986, George founded the Pacific Rim Consulting Group, a strategy boutique, which he sold to AT Kearney in 1997. Before joining Monitor, George was a Senior Advisor to Asian Capital Partners.

Siu Fung Chan — Partner
Siu Fung Chan is a Partner of Monitor Group and head of Monitor Shanghai office. He has close to 20 years of consulting and industry experience, focusing on private equity, telecom, media, technology and industrial sectors. His expertise areas include growth strategy, sales and marketing excellence, organization strategy, business re-structuring, and M&A support.
Before joining Monitor, Siu Fung was the general manager at a regional Mobile Services Provider and a business director at a regional Internet Services Provider. He also worked for Nasdaq-listed Creative Technology as project leader.
Siu Fung earned his MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the National University of Singapore.

Torsten Stocker — Partner
Torsten Stocker is a Partner of Monitor Group and head of M2C (Monitor's marketing practice) Asia. He also co-heads both Monitor's Private Equity and M&A practice in Asia. After moving to Asia in the mid 90s, he worked extensively across the region, with a particular focus on China. He has been involved in advisory and post-investment work for a broad range of deals over the past several years. He also works with clients in the consumer goods and technology sectors, advising them mainly on corporate and marketing strategy.
Torsten spent his initial years with Accenture and AT&T, before joining Monitor in early 2000.
He completed an undergraduate degree in business studies in his native Germany and took a Master's degree in the UK.

Guanghai Li — Partner
Guanghai Li is a Partner at Monitor Group based in Beijing. He has close to 20 years of combined working and consulting experience in both China and internationally, in the areas of business strategy, technology and innovation management, branding strategy, regional economic competitiveness, and organizational strategy.
Before Monitor, Mr. Li was a deputy director of China’s Key National Lab for Clean Coal Technologies in Tsinghua University in Beijing.
Mr. Li holds bachelor and master degrees from Tsinghua University, Beijing, and from MIT, USA.

Ellon Xu — Associate Partner
Ellon Xu is currently an Associate Partner of Monitor Group based in Shanghai. At Monitor, Ellon works closely with leading multinational and Chinese companies in the pharmaceutical, medical devices and healthcare space across a wide variety of strategic situations such as corporate strategy, growth strategy, marketing strategy, new product launch, market access, as well as organizational issues.
Mr. Xu spent his earlier career with PricewaterhouseCoopers before joining the firm in 2007. He completed his study in Clinical Medicine at Fudan University, and received his MBA from University of California at Berkeley.

Yu Huang — Principal
Yu Huang is a Principal at Monitor Group based in Beijing. He has close to 15 years of consulting and industry experience, focusing on telecom, media, technology, consumer goods, healthcare, real estate and government sectors. His specialties include corporate strategy, growth strategy, market entry strategy, organization strategy and change management. His clients are senior executives of leading enterprises in China, the U.S., and the rest of the world.
Mr. Huang has spent over 10 years in Silicon Valley. He has worked for a global mobile communications leader, and was a project leader at a major semiconductor company, holding one U.S. patent. He has also worked for a major Chinese investment bank, covering the technology sector.
Mr. Huang holds a Bachelor degree from Peking University, a Master degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York, and a MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management.
